Alan S. Honda passed away on September 6, 2022. He resided most of his life in his hometown of Upland, CA. Alan enjoyed camping and fishing with family, friends and beloved uncles; he loved all aspects of fishing including tying his own flies and building fishing rods. He once said, “the greatest fisherman is my dad, the 2nd best is me.” Alan was also a master griller, a collector of sports memorabilia, handmade knives and avid Dodgers fan. He was proud to share with friends that several uncles served their country in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and their motto, “Go For Broke.” Alan began his working life at Mt. Fuji Garden Center in Upland and retired in 2014 from the LA Unified School District. Throughout his life, his happy-go-lucky, joking nature formed many friendships. He had a big heart and generous spirit. Alan was pre-deceased by parents George (Noboru) & (Hatsuko) Janet Honda, both of whom were interned at the Poston Relocation Center in Arizona during WWII and brother, John N. Honda. He is survived by his sister & brother-in-law, Karen & Mike Bonecki of Huntington Beach. Let us all fondly remember Alan standing in a High Sierra creek, waders on, fly fishing for the elusive brown trout.
