Anthony “Tony” Pejack, born September 30, 1934 in Johnstown, PA passed away on August 3rd in Yucaipa, CA. Tony graduated from Johnstown High School in 1953. He then served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service, he utilized his GI Bill to earn his teaching degree from Indiana University of PA and his Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University, CA. In 1960, while still in PA, Tony was recruited by Fontana Unified School District. He drove across the country to begin a 34 year career with FUSD, serving as a teacher and coach at West Randall Elementary, Fontana Jr. High and Fontana High Schools before retiring in 1994. Tony was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburg Steelers. He sported his black and gold every where he went. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Valerie (MacCharles) Pejack, daughters Jane (Mike) Rodriguez, Lora (Nick) Grisafe, Jill (John) Castanon, Patsy (Terry) Bell, Kazumi (Steve) Franz and his son Mark (Mendy) Jiannino. He was affectionately known as Pap to his 24 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Victoria Pejack, siblings Eugene Pejack and Signey Russo, sons Tony & Rick Pejack, daughter Chloe Dakis and granddaughter Katie Grisafe. Tony will be missed by his huge family and many friends and former students. Celebration of Life services will be private.
