Carl Moen Jr.

On February 21st, 2021 the world lost a great man. Carl Anton Moen Jr. passed at age 97 of an infection. Carl was born in Morris, Minnesota on May 6th, 1923 to Carl Anton Moen Sr. and Dora M. Grove-Moen. His family moved to California 2 years later and Carl would spend the rest of his life living here. After High School Carl enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served proudly as a top tier gunner on the Boeing B25 bomber during WWII. During his enlistment he reached the rank of Technical Sergeant and flew 50 successful missions into enemy territory mostly over Europe. 2 weeks after his honorable discharge Carl started working for the Southern California Edison Co. and spent the next 38 years there. He met Verna Jean Neifert and they were married on February 22nd, 1946. During their wonderful 69 years of marriage Carl and Jean had 4 children Ted, Barney, Cheryl and Laurie. In addition, they have 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Carl was active in his community being a member of the Free Masons for 62 years and an Al Malaikah Shriner for 54 years. During his 35 years of retirement Carl enjoyed Golfing 3 days a week, driving his model trains, and building and flying is radio control airplanes. Carl was a devoted husband, a loving father and a loved grandfather. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his family enjoyed his many stories of his experiences from WWII.
