Garland Dittman

Garland Dittman, born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, May 15th, 1935 passed away at home in Tehachapi, California on February 28th. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a beloved son, Daniel Dittman. He is survived by wife, Nancy, brother Loren Dittman(Medie), son Tom Dittman(Tammy), daughter Eileen Dittman, 2 step sons Curtis and Carl Delzell, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Upon graduating high school he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He spent time in the grocery business while he attended several colleges. He graduated from Fresno State with an MBA degree and became a stock broker for Merrill Lynch. There he discovered his passion for teaching as he held evening classes on stocks and bonds. He taught accounting, management, and business courses for Barstow College at numerous locations in the Barstow area for 31 years.

He was one of the first to take action when he heard the Harvey House might be demolished. His mother-in-law, Mary Willis, was one of the Harvey Girls.
