Harry William Cramer Jr.
Harry William Cramer, Jr., of Riverside, CA, passed away on Feb. 20, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in San Francisco in 1932, he moved with his family to Burlingame, where he attended San Mateo High School, before moving to Cathedral City. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he received a BA in Zoology from UC Riverside and an MA in Education from UCLA. While at UCR, he met the love of his life, Jacqueline. They wed in 1959 and remained happily married until her passing in 2010. Their travels took them to many stateside locations, but they shared a great fondness for Hawaii and Italy. A science and math teacher for over 30 years for the Jurupa and Perris school districts, Harry loved teaching and learning. He was an avid book reader who also liked old movies, classical music, science, history, politics, and cartoons. Harry also enjoyed Craftsman-style woodworking and gardening with an Asian theme. He had a unique philosophy about life and a great sense of humor, rarely taking things too seriously. He often joked that the meaning of life was 42, inspired by The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy novel, which claimed 42 as the answer to the “ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.” Be sure to have Harry’s favorite Italian cocktail, a Negroni, when raising a toast to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his three children, Victoria Cramer of Prescott, AZ, Harry Cramer III of Riverside, Bill Cramer (Michelle), granddaughters, Sarah and Megan of Prescott, AZ, and sister Nancy Fell (Ira) of El Dorado Hills, CA.
