James Penrose

E. James (Jim) Penrose 1/22/1925 – 4/5/2021 E. James Penrose (Jim), 96, died at home on the morning of April 5, 2021. He is survived and mourned by Joyce, his loving wife of 66 years, his sons Jim and Dan, his daughter Eleanor, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His daughter Cathy pre-deceased him in 1959. They are reunited. Jim was born in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada and later lived in Montreal. He interrupted his education to volunteer to serve in the Canadian Army during WWII. After the war, he returned to McGill University and completed his degree in Chemical Engineering. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1956 with his wife and young son. As the family grew, they settled in Yucaipa in 1962. Jim worked in the Aerospace industry and later earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from UCR, having always had a strong interest in Government. His collection of books remains as a testament to his love of reading and lifelong learning. He would happily loan a book to anyone who asked (or didn’t ask) with the caveat, “I want that back when you’re done”. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
