Joseph Manzanares Jr.
Joseph (Joe) D. Manzanares Jr., 88, died January 28, 2021. He lived in La Verne, California, with his wife, Rosalie, of 64 years. Joe “Cochi” was born January 8, 1933 in Pomona, California, where he grew up and attended Pomona High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1956. He was a proud Korean War veteran. He worked as a cement mason his entire life and was a member of the Cement Masons Union for over 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Sr. and Louise Manzanares, brothers Paul, Herman, and Elias Manzanares, his sisters Mary Carey and Gloria Alba, along with his son-in-law Rex Osborne. He is survived by his wife Rosalie (Camacho) Manzanares and his brothers Steven, Augustine and Ralph Manzanares. Loving father to Corine and David Soto, Helen Manzanares, John and Francie Manzanares, Jim Manzanares, and Kathy Byrum. Proud grandpa to 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by an array of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Cochi will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nino, beer loving, garage lounging, junk gathering, cheeseball and chicharrones snacking, root beer candy eating, bird protecting, fishing storyteller, Woody collecting, scooter driving superhero.
