Leonard Osias

Leonard Osias, born Lionel Osias, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Friday, November 15, 2019, in Jacobs Medical Center, San Diego. Leonard was born in New York to Joseph and Clara Osias. He moved to Bakersfield, CA with his family as a teenager. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp after graduating from high school and went to UC Berkeley on the GI Bill. Leonard graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry as a Doctor of Optometry and started private practice in San Lorenzo, CA. In addition to private practice, Leonard was a Clinic Professor at the School of Optometry for 20 years as well as an active leader in his profession. He was an avid tennis player who continued to take lessons into his 95th year.

Leonard was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Irene. He is survived by his three sons: Gary (Lydia), David (Jeanette) and Joel (Fatmata) and seven grandchildren: Aaron, Rachel (Renee), Sara (Andrew), Josh, Benjamin (Tess), Gabriella, and Malaka.
