Matthew Huey, 51, of Mission Viejo, CA, passed away July 16, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Matthew was born in Los Angeles County, to Leonard and Norma. He graduated from Charter Oak High School in 1988. He then went on to obtain a Bachelors degree in Biology at Cal Poly Pomona in 1999. After, he went on to receive his degree as a Doctor of Medicine at the University of California Irvine in 2003. He married his wife of 28 years, Christina in October, of 1992. They welcomed two children, Adam and Ashley. Matthew served his country in the United States Army as a combat engineer and was honorably discharged as a SPC. He worked for Kaiser Permanente as a Physiatrist, where he enjoyed helping his patients on a daily basis. After working ten years at Kaiser Permanente he made partner. He was always helping people and looking out for the underdog. Matthew loved spending time with family. You could always find him cheering on his children at their wrestling meets, football games, basketball games, dance recitals and any activity they participated in. Matthew also coached his kids’ basketball teams and made sure they felt supported. He had a love for the outdoors and shared his experience through camping, fishing and hiking. Most recently, he took pleasure in customizing his Jeep Cherokee for off road adventures. He also went on trips with his wife horseback riding in Mammoth, as well as, traveling up and down the coast of California. What he loved most of all was watching sunsets on the beach with his family. Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Christina; children, Adam and Ashley; brother, Andrew; uncle, Charlie; and numerous family members who loved, cherished, and adored him. No matter what was going on in his life he always led with, "I’m counting the blessings."
