Roy Takeno

Roy Isao Takeno passed peacefully from natural causes on January 3, 2022 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents Rikinosuke and Kuniye, brother Ben, and sister Sumiko Nagai. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Reiko Marian, daughters Robin, Riki Phelps (Donald), Melissa Mapes (Rodney), Meredith (Jerry), grandchildren Kayla, Julie, Andrew, Makena, Sydney, sister Toshiko, brother Harry and several other loving family members. Roy was born in Los Angeles on April 27, 1941. He went to Orange High School and played football, where he wore his beloved #10 and #25. He moved to Riverside in 1963. He attended Cal Poly Pomona and then was drafted into the Army in 1963. He enjoyed his time in the Army and developed his love for cooking. Roy founded R.I.T. Grove Management and married Marian in 1966 and had four daughters. He was a faithful supporter of R.I.T. Tigers Softball/ RGSA, Alcott Elementary Native Garden, Madison Elementary, Sierra Middle, Ramona High, UCR Men’s Basketball, J.W. North High Softball, University of Montana Softball, and Grove/AYSO Soccer.
