Ruben was born November 17, 1928 in Riverside, California. Preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Concepcion Viveros and brother Henry. He married the love of his life, Linda Rangel in 1952. He graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 1948. Enlisted in 1949 in the U.S. Navy and served four years aboard the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea. Serving as an Aviation Machinist Airman during the Korean War. He worked at Norton Air Force base for over 35 years as an Aircraft Mechanic and later worked on the SR-71 Blackbird Strategic Reconnaissance Aircraft. Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Linda; son Ruben Viveros; daughters, Carol Viveros, Gloriann Chavez (Larry), Rosanna Viveros-Amador (Dave); his beloved grandsons Carlos (Ysenia) and Dominic Chavez; granddaughters Gabriella Viveros and Raquel Amador and great-grandson Emery Tunson; numerous nieces and nephews. Ruben was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, on the Parish Council and past Chairman of the Gran Fiesta Ranchera. He was an avid golfer. A loyal LA Dodgers, Lakers and Rams fan. 2020 Dodger World Series Victory brought tears of joy to him! Above all Ruben enjoyed and loved spending time with his family. Known as Hon (Honey) by his wife, Dad by his children, Gramps by his grandchildren, Lou by his brother and friends. Loyal to his parents and family in time of need. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was involved with them all through their lives, driving them to and from school, attending all their activities and watching them grow into fine young adults. He was interested in what was going on in your life, giving advice when needed and knowing when to step in. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially the holiday beach vacations and attending Dodger baseball games. We as a family are all grateful for his guidance, inspiration and love. The family is eternally grateful to Dr. Ramesh Karody and staff, Riverside Community Hospital ER Staff, and the Caregivers and Staff at Citrus Place Assisted Living for the loving care of our beloved father.
