Walter Haight

January 28, 1928 – July 9, 2022 Walter Reed Haight (Major USAF retired, Bronze Star recipient), age 94, passed away peacefully on 7/9/2022. Reed was born on 1/28/1928 in Newburgh, New York. He married his beloved wife Marjorie November 11, 1949. While serving in the military Reed and Marjorie lived in nine states and two foreign countries while raising their 8 children. Their final assignment brought them to Riverside, California where they lived for over twenty years. After retiring they moved to the San Diego area. They enjoyed daily visits with their friends at the Coronado Ferry Landing. Reed was preceded in death by his son Karl, grandson Evan Haight-Boyd, daughter-in-law Sharon Haight, wife Marjorie, son-in-law Gary Garnos and his son Eric Haight. He is survived by his children Debbie (Ken) Kast, Kurt (Debbie) Haight, Mimi (Dave) Taylor, Penny Garnos, Marty (Linda) Haight, Andrea Haight Brown. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Reed loved his family, music and good food. He is loved and deeply missed. A funeral with full military honors will take place on 11/12/2022 at Mira Mar National Cemetery. The funeral will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
